See you at the Movies

Just because we’re toting a baby doesn’t mean we can’t catch a blockbuster.

As the owner of Movies for Mommies I love planning these movie events for new moms. What better way to feel a little “normal” again than by packing up the baby and watcing a flick on the big screen?  I am a movie buff and the thought of missing out on popcorn and trips to the theatre just wouldn’t do. With Movies for Mommies us moms can stay up-to-date on the latest releases (no need to wait till they’re out on DVD) and best of all, we can save the babysitter for date-night.

Welcoming the moms into the theatre is a thrill. Most moms have little ones under three months and they are so happy to be getting out of the house, socializing with other new moms and taking a well deserved break. Mothers and their babies are welcomed into an infant-friendly environment where they can relax, escape into a current movie (with popcorn of course), nurse in the dark, and network with other new moms. Sound levels are turned down, lights are a little brighter and change tables and stroller parking is provided.

Just so you know, Movies for Mommies is certainly open to Daddies and grandparents and if you’d like to bring a friend with you, that’s not a problem. It’s aimed at parents with babies but they won’t turn you away if you bring your toddler along. Keep in mind however, that most movies being shown are for adults.

In addition to offering parents of little ones a great movie experience, I team up with local businesses to keep parents up to date on some of the best products and services the city has to offer parents and babies–think South Surrey’s babycheeks, Bopomo Pictures, Gymboree and everyone’s favourite online shop, Raspberry Kids.

All moms attending Movies for Mommies for the first time will receive a welcome bag full of great offers, deals and information from our sponsors and advertisers–there’s even a frequent movie-goer card: Come six times and get the seventh movie free!

In its ninth year, Movies for Mommies is now offered in 16 locations across Canada.
