Generally, when a baby arrives any hopes you had of a trendy living space leave. Our fairly roomy two bedroom apartment seemed to shrink measurably when Pickle arrived and every spare piece of floor was suddenly taken over by baby paraphernalia. It was all necessary kit, but some was cute while some was …not so stylish.
On my ‘ugliest piece of baby gear’ scale the Exersaucer came a close second, but at the top was our high chair. We didn’t exactly select it – it was a hand-me-down for which we were grateful given the mounting credit card bills that accompany the arrival of a new baby. So I can’t really complain. But sheesh, it was ugly! It had a metal and plastic frame with a generic animal-patterned fixed plastic seat. It didn’t fold away so sat there spoiling the look of our dining area until the day we packed up and moved out. It was ugly when it arrived and even more disgusting when it left being by then encrusted with four years worth of baby food droppings that found their way into the crevices. Nothing short of ripping the whole thing to pieces would have enabled me to clean it properly. By the time Bowser had finished with it it even had duct tape over cracks that had appeared in the plastic on the arms. Boy was I glad to get rid of that highchair. Shudder.
So understandably when I spotted Phil&Teds newest feeding time product, the poppy, on Twitter last week I suffered a little ‘high chair envy’. It’s all the things my high chair wasn’t: it’s stylish, it’s lightweight, it’s easy to clean, and it folds away.
Phil&Teds have cottoned on to the fact that babies are messy eaters. Poppy’s waterproof & seamless aerocore seat eliminates any risk of food hiding in cracks but at the same time is comfortably soft and spongy. The whole thing can be easily wiped clean but additionally the generously sized food tray is easily removed with one click and can even be put in the dishwasher!
At only 4kg / 8.8lbs, poppy is lighter than your average high chair which makes it easy to move around and if you want to return your dining area to an adult only zone you can simply remove the poppy’s back legs with the press of a button and store it away.
Because it’s so stylish you won’t be in a hurry to get it out of the house as soon as your little one graduates from the high chair. The bonus is it converts to a ‘my chair’ your toddler/preschooler can enjoy until they are 5. Now that’s real value for money!
The really exciting news is that we have a poppy in the colour of your choice (cranberry, lime or bubblegum blue) to give away!
