Transitioning Between Breast and Bottle with Mimijumi

mimijumi mimics one of the most natural processes ever known to women: breastfeeding.  Although the benefits of breastfeeding are well known, this way of feeding is not always possible 100% of the time.  With practicality and purpose on its side, parents are now being introduced to mimijumi, a modern type of baby bottle. The baby must latch on to the nipple to make the mimijumi bottle express milk.

The mimijumi’s “Very Hungry” baby bottle is breast-like in appearance and texture, so that when mothers start with the “Very Hungry” bottle, babies are less likely to have a problem transitioning between breast and bottle.  Ideal for bottle picky babies, newborns also gravitate to this form of feeding, as it is an aid to prolonging breastfeeding, a natural way to enhance immunity and prevent obesity and diabetes later in life.  The unique nipple feature is more like a breast, so the baby latches onto the nipple as they would latch onto the breast. This is key when making an easy transition from the breast to the bottle.

Very Hungry Bottle from mimijumiCreated with input from designers, mothers, nurses, physicians, and lactation experts, mimijumi’s first product, the “Very Hungry” bottle, was conceived as a natural, modern and stylish complement to breastfeeding. The “Very Hungry” is the first of an upcoming line of products that is mindful of the ways infants bond with their mother. Through sight and touch, mimijumi products allow an enhanced experience to be created for the infant and parent alike.

  • Free of BPA and phthalates, the nylon bottle is easy to clean and has a wide mouth for easy filling, a screw on one piece nipple, and a non skid base
  • Soft silicon nipple is textured and colored to resemble skin, and includes an integrated ventilation system to aid in the baby’s digestion

The “Very Hungry” baby bottle (8 oz) and nipples retail for $14.99 ($21.99 CAD) and the “Not So Hungry baby bottle” (4 oz) is available for $13.99 ($20 CAD), across the USA and Canada and also online at thenewmomshop.com (US) and babybot.com (Canada)

  40. I am a mother of 2, from the USA. I had trouble with both of my children prefering the bottle over the breast once I started supplementing a couple feedings daily when I went back to grad school. Eventually, I had to stop nursing all together because they preferred the bottle over the breast solely because it was faster & easier for them to receive their feedings, I.e. immediate gratification for almost no effort. I would be so excited to try out this new bottle with my next child to see if, unlike All other bottles I’ve tried, it truly does prolong breastfeeding when I have to go back to work & start supplementing more feedings with the bottle.

  41. New mom-to-be – this is the first time I’ve seen this bottle. It looks like the best way to transition between breast & bottle. CANADA.

  59. My son is 3 months old and I have been nursing and using formula. Over the past week has suddenly stopped taking the bottle. It has been making it very difficult to be away from him for any length of time as he eats way more frequently when nursing. I was literally just thinking last night how someone should invent a bottle with a nipple like a real breast! I would love to try one!! I am from Canada
